This song is one of my better “cello” emulations. It’s about 3 minutes, so please take the time to give it a listen. The cello part comes through with quite an emotional feeling.
I felt like this song was missing a few things…mostly bass and percussion. This version fixes that with the addition of a Rickenbacker bass track, an egg shaker, a rattle and some brass chimes.
A Behringer Poly D was used to create the sequenced background track and a Moog Mavis (mounted in a NiftyKEYZ keyboard / enclosure) was used for the lead. The midi output of the Mavis / NiftyKEYZ was used to slave my Minimoog, so the lead track is a composite of the Mavis and Minimoog analog synths.

The title of this song comes from the fact that I used a tone on my Les Paul that was reminiscent of something between “American Woman” and “Outside Woman Blues.” Impromptu was added because, well, it isn’t a blues song and the leads were pretty much ad-lib.
A “feel good” instrumental with a driving bass line and several layers of Stratocaster, including a simulated vibraphone track. What’s not to like?
Martin DC Aura – unplugged this time. I used a pair of Behringer condenser mics more or less pointed at the sound hole. The lead track has some reverse delay added using an EHX Oceans 12 reverb pedal in an ad hoc effects loop on the TASCAM Model 12 mixer. Both tracks also had some Hall2 reverb supplied by the mixer.
