Another “classical music” composition. Using the Moog Mavis analog synth module mounted in a NiftyKEYZ Eurorack keyboard / enclosure. The NiftyKEYZ aftertouch is controlling the vibrato which is why you see me pressing the keys so hard, LOL.
A warbly Minimoog lead with a Moog Mavis doing a good imitation of a cello for accompaniment (with the help of an EHX Oceans 12 reverb pedal and my “cello hack” setting). Also includes a BeatBuddy drum track.
A very short experiment in composing a string duet. This song was created using a Moog Mavis module that was mounted in a NiftyKEYZ keyboard / enclosure.
This song is one of my better “cello” emulations. It’s about 3 minutes, so please take the time to give it a listen. The cello part comes through with quite an emotional feeling.
I felt like this song was missing a few things…mostly bass and percussion. This version fixes that with the addition of a Rickenbacker bass track, an egg shaker, a rattle and some brass chimes.
A Behringer Poly D was used to create the sequenced background track and a Moog Mavis (mounted in a NiftyKEYZ keyboard / enclosure) was used for the lead. The midi output of the Mavis / NiftyKEYZ was used to slave my Minimoog, so the lead track is a composite of the Mavis and Minimoog analog synths.
This is an explanation on how I achieve the “cello hack” using a Moog Mavis and an Electro-Harmonix Oceans 12 Dual Stereo Reverb pedal. The Mavis is mounted in a NiftyKEYZ Eurorack keyboard / enclosure and I’m using the NiftyKEYZ “aftertouch” output to control the Mavis’ LFO rate. This allows me to get a more realistic vibrato by varying pressure on the keys. Harder presses = faster vibrato.
