The Moog Mavis was my first analog synth. It arrives as a kit, of sorts. Relax! No soldering is required. You just have to install the front metal panel by aligning the poteniometer shafts with the holes in the metal front panel, secure them with the included nuts and then press the knobs onto the shafts. It comes with a plastic base, dustcover and power supply. Patch cables are also included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted more than 1-octave, so I bought a Cre8Audio NiftyKEYZ keyboard \/ Eurorack enclosure and mounted my Mavis there. But it is possible to use the rubber membrane keyboard, as I did for this song<\/a>. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Mavis has one main oscillator and one Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO). The LFO can be used to modulate the main oscillator, or it can also create audible frequencies itself. The Mavis’ filter circuits can also be driven into self-oscillation<\/a> for even more tonal options. A Wave Folder is also included, which can be used for further modification of the sounds the Mavis generates. This thing is no toy – I have several analog synths, now, but I still use the Mavis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
