The Waterin’ Hole

The acoustic tracks were recorded with my trusty TASCAM Pocketstudio using its internal mics. The bass track was recorded with the TASCAM using the line in coming from a Zoom B3 Bass Effects pedal. The drum track was also generated by the Zoom B3, with the exception of the final cymbal crash, which came from Adobe Audition Loopology.

The Waterin’ Hole

I pretty much forced myself to record a song last night and this was the result.

Wah-Sabi Blues

This song started off as a test recording using a Zoom B3 Bass Effects & Amp Simulator pedal using its USB connection. I recorded a drum track using one of the Zoom’s rhythm patterns, then laid down the bass track using the cto Stomp patch (E0). I liked it, so I decided to add a guitar part. That wasn’t easy. Turns out my Rickenbacker was tuned sharp (I guess the Zoom’s tuner isn’t that accurate?). So I had to mis-tune my Les Paul. The bass track wasn’t really meant to have a guitar part, so I just messed around with the slide and wah pedal and came up with what you hear.

The title is a play on the name, ” wasabi” and was purposely misspelled as “Wah-Sabi” as a nod to the wah pedal.

The bass track was recorded using a Rickenbacker 4003 through the Zoom B3’s USB connection. The drum track was also recorded using that method, using a built-in rhythm pattern. The guitar part was recorded using a Les Paul through a Fender Mustang III amp’s USB connection. The wah pedal was a Boss V-Wah set to the Crybaby setting.
